The Leo D. Mahoney Arena was among the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York’s (ACEC New York) Diamond Award winners in the Structural Engineering category.
The American Council of Engineering Companies of New York’s (ACEC New York) 57th annual Engineering Excellence Awards Gala was held on April 13 at the New York Hilton Midtown to honor member firms for design achievements of superior skill and ingenuity. The ACEC Engineering Excellence Awards recognize the skills and innovation of New York’s consulting engineering firms.
ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ’s Leo D. Mahoney Arena was awarded a Diamond Award in the Structural Engineering category. Led by Vice President of Facilities, Campus and Auxillary Services David Frassinelli M'92, the team that designed and constructed Mahoney Arena included Centerbrook Architects, Gilbane Building Company and Gilsanz Murray Steficek, LLP.
Awards were presented in Diamond, Platinum, Gold and Silver levels, to 124 projects in the following categories: studies, research, and consulting services; building/technology systems; structural systems; surveying and mapping technology; environmental; waste and storm water; water resources; transportation; energy; industrial and manufacturing processes and facilities; and special projects.
All project entries are viewed annually by a distinguished panel of judges based on uniqueness and originality, technical value to the engineering profession, social and economic considerations, complexity, and success in meeting client goals.
Diamond Awards were presented to the 26 most exceptional projects, both within New York State and worldwide. In the Structural Engineering category, Diamond Award winners are as follows:
