Alexis and Jason Beckwith, P’23 to Receive Parent Leadership Award, April 3

This year’s ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ Awards Dinner at Cipriani 42nd Street will honor the Beckwiths for their exemplary parent leadership and commitment to our students.

ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ University will honor Jason Beckwith and Alexis Dunbar Beckwith P’23 with the Parent Leadership Award during this year’s ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ Awards Dinner on Wednesday, April 3 at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City.

With years of experience raising funds for schools and churches, the Beckwiths took the lead on supporting their son Alec’s rowing team, which needed resources to make the team competitive. In just one year, with the help of many families, they raised the funds and commitments for new boats and equipment — and the new Rowing Training Center. The 2023 men’s and women’s rowing teams finished with impressive performances at the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia and at the 2022 MAAC Championships.

Director of Parent Engagement and Philanthropy Ellen Dooley ’85, P’27,’23 said, “The Beckwiths are shining examples of what parent engagement means to ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ. From the first time I met the Beckwiths in 2020, they were raising their hand to help. They joined the Parent Leadership Council (PLC) soon after, and their partnership with the University began. It truly has been a pleasure and an honor to work alongside Alexis and Jason to encourage parents to get involved at ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ, to enjoy their parent experience, and to support our mission. We are truly grateful for all they have done and continue to do.”

In addition to the Beckwiths' fundraising leadership and support, Alexis has served on the Athletics Advisory Board since it formed in 2020. She has organized a series of Zoom talks on leadership and financial literacy for all campus athletes, and has attended many ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ events, including Alumni & Family Weekend and the Chicago President’s receptions.
