James and I did not officially meet during our time at ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ. As fate would have it, we met several years later at a ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ wedding of our close friends. We have spent years piecing together possibilities of chance encounters while on campus — did we attend parties together? Did we have class together? We certainly had mutual friends, but he was on the crew team and I was part of FUSA and Orientation, and those paths didn't often cross; he spent early mornings on the river, and I spent whole summers welcoming incoming Freshmen. But we learned that we did, in fact, have one class together during my sophomore year and his senior year! We were never meant to meet and fall in love while at ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ, so it seems. That doesn't mean that ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ doesn't play a huge role in our lives. James proposed to me outside of Bellarmine Hall, and we got married at the Egan Chapel. We visit campus as often as we can with our two future Stags, Juliana, age 3, and James (J.J.), age 1. We are both close with our ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ friends — our wedding party was filled with fellow alumni. ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ holds a special place in our love story and in our lives. The lesson learned here is that if you don't meet a StagMate during your time at ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ, there's always a chance you'll meet them afterwards. And who knows — maybe you took a class together, too.
