Billing and Payment


ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ’s Office of the Bursar will bill all ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ students studying abroad before the start of each term. All fees can be paid on the ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ study abroad application by clicking the appropriate material. 

Payment for ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ University-administered summer or short-term programs is made directly to Global ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ. Payments can be made via Visa, MasterCard, or AmEx. Fees can also be paid by mailing a check to Global ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ at ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ University, 1073 North Benson Road, ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ, CT 06824. All checks should be made out to “ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ University”.

Using payment plans and grants


The use of financial aid for study abroad programs depends on your home university's policies. Please contact your home institution's Financial Aid office for additional information.

For ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ students: The Monthly Tuition Payment Plan is available. A percentage of Dependent Grant-in-Aid can be used for study abroad tuition. Please contact Human Resources for details.

Financial Aid

All ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ scholarships and aid, including federal funds, can be used towards study abroad expenses for one semester with the exceptions of athletic scholarships, tuition remission, FACHEX, tuition exchange, and work-study monies.

Tuition Information

Semester Programs

Students who study abroad through ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ University for a semester on an approved program are charged regular ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ tuition, although housing and meal charges will vary by location. With the approval of the Associate Vice Provost for Global Strategy, students with Modern Language, International Business, and International Studies majors may use ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ University financial aid for two semesters abroad on select programs.

Summer Programs

Please visit the program-specific website for information since fees and billing for short-term programs vary. Students who wish to use financial aid during the summer are encouraged to connect with the ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ University Office of Financial Aid to explore the possibility of having their financial aid package readjusted to include their summer abroad.

Faculty-Led Programs

Students who participate in a faculty-led program can find financing information directly on the program brochure page. Students who wish to use financial aid for a faculty-led program are encouraged to connect with the ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ University Office of Financial Aid to explore the possibility of having their financial aid package readjusted to include costs associated with the program.

Deposit Information


Students who study abroad in a
fall semester or year-long program are required to submit a $1,000 deposit to ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ University by March 1. Spring program deposits are due by May 1. This deposit is part of the total program tuition cost. Students who study abroad during the summer must pay for the program in full by March 1.

Upon program acceptance, students will be required to pay a $500 Housing Security Deposit. This may be refundable to the student upon final review by the local landlord and staff. Refunds may take between 4 and 6 weeks to process.

Depending on your home institution, students who study abroad for a semester/year program may be required to submit a program balance fee. If applicable, this fee will be listed on your study abroad application. Balances are due on the following dates:

  • Spring Semester: November 1
  • Fall/Year Semester: July 1
  • Summer Semester: March 1

Deposit Policy


The non-refundable deposit of $1,000 will indicate a student’s commitment to a Study Abroad Program. The deposit is unrecoverable once received, and, should the student decide to withdraw, additional refund monies will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. The non-refundable deposit is applied to the semester tuition while abroad and will be reflected in the final invoice.
