ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ

As the Jesuit order declared in 1975: “The mission of the Society of Jesus today is the service of faith, of which the promotion of justice is an absolute requirement.” For the ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ community, this mission takes many forms, including works of service, justice, dialogue, and advocacy around the world. Our mission here is to help build men and women with and for others.

Make a Difference

Service With Children

Working with children offers unique insights into issues like diversity, discrimination, and social justice, as they possess a strong sense of fairness and a keen awareness of right and wrong. Volunteering with organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club, Big Brother/Big Sister, Bryant School, Caroline House, Discovery Museum, and McGivney Community Center allows you to make a meaningful impact on children who experience injustice.

Service With Animals

Social justice encompasses animal protection, recognizing that our actions impact animals both morally and politically. Students can gain hands-on experience at PAWS, Hop Along Hollow, and Equine Therapy.

Service with Vulnerable Populations

Many in our communities lack access to basic resources, and volunteer programs such as Champions, Best Buddies, Adopt-A-Grandparent, and LifeBridge Community Services aim to build friendships by matching students with members of these groups.

Service Around Food Insecurity

Food insecurity is a significant issue that disproportionately affects women and children. African Americans and Latinos are more likely to live in food deserts and areas lacking access to fresh fruits and vegetables. Students can make an impact by volunteering at the Bridgeport Rescue Mission, Connecticut Food Bank, Prospect House, Operation Hope, Black Rock Food Pantry, and Thomas Merton House & Family Center.
